WP1 - Management and coordination structure and procedures
WP1 will guarantee a fluid and efficient communication between partners, preserving the quality of the results according to the objectives of the Call. UPF, as the coordinator, will supervise and manage the legal, financial and administrative aspects of the consortium and contribute to a successful and broad dissemination effort in order to ensure the desired impacts.

WP2 - History of the civilian production and use of nuclear energy in Europe, 1945-2013; Constructing the narrative
The objective of WP2 is to carry out the collection of historical data on nuclear developments and provide WP4 and WP5 with the best available historical evidence for the analysis of the social sciences. The research partners will collect extensive historical data and testimonies on nuclear developments and experience from over 20 countries in and outside Europe to create a database as well as comparative country reports.

WP3 - Translating, linking and bridging: Phase 1 (History) and Phase 2 (Social Sciences)
WP3 integrates a ‘historians’ committee’ and a ‘social scientists’ committee’ that will coordinate and monitor the interactions between Phase 1 (historical data collection) and Phase 2 (social scientific analysis) in close liaison with WP1 (Management), implementing a knowledge brokerage system intended to linking and facilitating dialogue between the historians and the social scientists.

WP4 - Understanding perceptions and mechanisms for societal engagement
The objective of WP4 is to develop preliminary and in-depth analytical frameworks to suitably interrogate the evidence generated by the empirical historical research in WP2. The activities will be focused on identifying the factors underlying the societal perception of nuclear developments and how they are interrelated.

WP5 - Backcasting: ideal futures
WP5 will derive key lessons from past historical nuclear interactions with civil society and propose desirable future engagement scenarios for energy projects by means of an innovative application of the backcasting technique. The partnership will use participatory backcasting techniques to engage with multiple stakeholders’ groups in the development of more democratic, more inclusive and more effective engagement futures.

WP6 - Dissemination and Engagement
WP6 will implement activities to disseminate research findings to stakeholders and the public, discuss the implications of the results with these groups, and refine the outputs to provide relevant policy options. WP6 utilizes all elements of state-of-the art communication and engagement techniques, including films and podcasts, a newsletter, presence in social media, and webinars, but also traditional means such as conferences, engagement events, and academic publications.
